UBER-GEEK

1.25.2005

7:22 PM

Well, I just learned that I'm much geekier than I thought I was. Because...after 3 long, grueling months, I'M STILL NOT ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY COMPUTER AND IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE!!!!!!!!

okay, so you press the little gray button in the middle of the large metal box and it then should light up and make a lot of noise...OH now I get it...

LUCKY FIVE

1.24.2005

10:43 AM

ughh, still sick  but i'm feeling better. no more headache or dizziness or fever. just this darned cough and a bit of congestion. lord willing I can hit the books tomorrow or later today and get a bit of studying in.

really strange how quickly it hit me. I started feeling a cold coming on before SOS friday, and by the time I got home, I was dizzy, tired, and aching.

kevin finally got the "lucky 5" so he should be receiving his free iPod in the mail sometime near the end of February. I had to actually work quite a bit for this one, so there's actually people I know that helped me with this one (thanks Tim, Robbie, and Jeff). now to continue on with another free item!

wow, time sure flies. can't believe i've only got 7 days left as a fully-dependent minor.

UPDATE: i am now officially registered for the U.S. draft

2004 IN REVIEW

1.07.2005

The Year 2004 In Review

jan.04: nothing much surprisingly. boku no tanjoubi. also started my Freecycle group this month

feb.04: joined the 1st VCHS varsity tennis team but would later drop due to time constraints. 30 hour famine - valley did the largest famine event in the Bay Area and I was part of the programming team.

mar.04: finally, after 13 months, i finally got honored getting eagle. awesome COH, went flawlessly, lots of gifts.

apr.04: i think we went down south for easter to look at irvine and biola. spoke in front of the school at the NHS induction ceremony. Spent long hours with Mrs. Ruff cramming for AP USH test.

may.04: took my first AP tests which went okay. also spent all night at Boomers with SOS and CBC ppl.

jun.04: busy busy. in the first sat. in june, i had 2 (terrible) SAT II tests, a piano recital, and an Eagle COH. took the ACT which went well. cruise to mexico, and finally fairtime!

jul.04: finished up fair and got paid. Highlight this month was the trip to Hong Kong. HK was so awesome! hope I can go back soon.

aug.04: CAMP! we got to play worship one day, that was cool. again, i met some cute asians (again i say JUST KIDDING ) The first of 298 days of senioritis began.

sep.04: steve and hillary get hitched! yeah! that same weekend, I learned how to play settlers.

oct.04: this month started the worst, most painful ailment i have ever had. my GERD would reap a loss of 13 lbs. and an acquiring of a gym membership! couldn't eat a thing though. ouch.

nov.04: mostly college apps and more stomach pain. went to mt. hermon with ASB, where I got my first playing time of Halo 2 hehe. umm, Bush won the election. I found out if I decide to go to Santa Cruz, I'd be in the Women's Studies program. saw a ton of movies too.

dec.04: december was the start of the time all my toys start breaking. first, my cell phone battery DIES for some reason and is somewhere in the continental U.S. for 2 1/2 months. Then, my computer display gets messed up, so I send in my video card for a new (upgraded) one, but that doesn't fix it, so I send my whole motherboard in for repair. most of the holiday break was laid back and quiet because of certain events that have been happening. The year ends crazily as SOS pulls off an all-nighter New Year's eve and can hardly stay awake the next day.

so what will happen in 2005? i go off to college and? how can I help make a difference in the world this year? what can i do to help my walk and glorify Christ?

AULD LANG SYNE

1.03.2005

5:08 PM

Okay folks, time for an update! Here's the first for the year 2005. And in the spirit and celebration of Ryan finally giving into Kevin and Kenny's plea to get a Xanga (as well as nearly everyone else in SOS including Rob, I will organize this post into Ryan's trademark catagories):

Xongo (quick take on what's new): it's back to school, time to dive into that 3 month stretch before Easter and the 3 weeks before finals. I've been sick with that all-niter hangover from New Year's and then a cold, but it's getting better. College apps are complete, but I've got a few scholarships to apply for.

Stalkers R Us (info about me): What do you really want to know about me that you really want to know? I'm just a plain-old country student sticken with senioritis. I'm also an Eagle Scout and part of Troop 905 in Dublin until January 30. I'm an author of a couple of guides for PalmSource, the company that makes the software for Palm Pilots. My guides are for New Users and Scouting and are seen by hundreds of people daily (so they say). I'm also the moderator for a group called Freecycle, which is dedicated to reduing waste and building up giving communities. My group, which covers the entire East Bay, currently has about 1850 members and growing exponentially. I need more members! Click here to join!

What more shall I say? My activities (besides being a geek in front of a computer) involve piano, working out and getting huge, and SOS youth fellowship every Friday, with CMBC, my church, on Sundays.

Some of my favorite sites:

Deep Thoughts: I'm not much of a deep thinker (low brain activity during AP Lit lol), but in terms of spiritual matters, it's been extremely hard for me lately. There's been so much going on that I haven't had time to concentrate on my walk with Christ. With my terrible GERD illness to college app deadlines and the death of my great-uncle, it's been emotionally trying. I am thankful that God has gotten my through it all and that I was always able to go to Him if I felt overwhelmed. But since my focus has not been 100% on Him, it's hard for me to see how He has been working and blessing my life. Even things like church and SOS don't seem to be a time of spiritual growth and quiet time, especially since I'm usually serving. Mrs. Taylor told us that it's okay if church activities are times of serving, but we need to have a quiet time to just think, read, and pray. Now, since college apps are like a huge burden lifted from me, and my GERD is under control, I'm hoping this will be a much more spiritually fulfilling year. As I begin to make the transition from high school to college, I pray that I will know God better, and that I will see better the blessings He has giving me. Pray for me about this. It's not really a matter of how, but of doing it.

Random:  nothing strange or unusual that i can think of. I'll update if I can think of anything

Scott's Love Life:  ehh, what love life??? i read in ryan's xanga that he actually knew ________ almost 6 years ago, and he's 24 now, which means they met when he was 18 (although they actually began a serious relationship only a couple months ago). they first met when they were 18, hmm...will it happen for me this year?  lol, it's whatever God has planned...

cheers, ryan. we finally brought you over to the dark side!  may we get lots of juicy bits from your posts, lol j/k. now, if we could only get your sister to make one...
